1. Which public transport stops/stations can you find on the web site?

The informative system system includes all the stops used by the companies that operate the local public transportation service on a regional scale (some stops are outside Liguria) as well as many Trenitalia railway stations in Italy and the regional Genova-Casella narrow-gauge railway line. There are about 9000 stops in Liguria and around a thousand railway stations.

The system includes timetables for local public transport on rails (trains and subways) and on wheels (urban and suburban and buses) supplied by Ligurian transport operators and by Trenitalia, that have collaborated in order to achieve this result.

At present for road transport you will find information on AMT (Genoa), ATC (La Spezia), Riviera Trasporti (Sanremo and Imperia), Tigullio Trasporti (Chiavari and Tigullio district),ACTS (Savona), ATP-Azienda Trasporti Provinciali (Province of Genoa) and SAR (Albenga and Finale district); information is given on Trenitalia and the Genoa-Casella railway for rail transport. .

Access to a constantly updated archive is provided: information is updated every time the timetables are changed according to agreements between the operators.

Apart from railway stations and public transport stops, you can also find many public service locations, the so-called points of interest (museums, hospitals, monuments, etc.), used as a departure or arrival point. These points of interest are connected to the stations and local public transport stops.

2. What is meant by integrated timetable?

The term "Integrated timetable" " is used because the system contains the connections between the transport systems of the various operators; using the results of your search you are able to go from the stop/station of departure to that of your arrival by utilising different means of transport managed by different companies.

3. How can I use the integrated timetable?

Write the departure stop/station in the "from" box; write the arrival stop/station in the "to" box; in the "via" box for transit (optional) insert an intermediate stop/station whereby to transit.

You can choose whether to set the search by a certain date or hour of departure or arrival.

Write the date and hour of the start of journey in the "date" box. The date appears in the DD.MM.YY (day.month.year) format and the hour as HH:MM (hours:minutes): the preset date is that of the current day. The time is approximated by half an hour with respect to the web site access.

It is possible to alter the date by using the calendar function and the "after" and "before" arrows.

Once the parameters are set you just have to click on the "search" key. The system then lists the connections it has found.

Other possible connections (three or four) are listed in the results page. The quickest are briefly detailed.

You can search for connections for your return journey by clicking on the "return journey" button.

In order to view connections following the ones proposed click on "later" . Clicking on "earlier" you will obtain the connections in times preceding your initial request.

6. After selecting a stop/station I receive the message: "Your input is ambiguous. Please select from the selection list". What does it mean?

This message appears when the system is unable to recognize the name written in the box.

For example, writing "Ross" the system searches all the stops/stations that have a similar name: "Palazzo Rosso-Genova", "Via Trossarelli", "Rossiglione (Trenitalia)", etc. The various possibilities appear in a summary box where you may define your choice.

In this way it is possible to control any typing errors, avoiding any unwanted connections.

7. Why is the system unable to find a connection even though it appears to have been set properly?

Sometimes the system may give you a negative result after having entered an existing connection.

This can happen when more than one means of transport is used for the connection and the time for changing (usually around 3-5 minutes) is considered as insufficient to catch the connecting transport (i.e. passing from one means of transport to another).

There are also other reasons why the connection you were looking for may not be available: for example if the service runs only on Sundays or vice versa if it runs every day except on holidays or if there are no direct connections between the departure location and arrival location (requested by the user by means of Advanced Search).

It is important to pay close attention to the calendar.

In the section "Departure/Via/Arrival" of the home page you may select the means of transport you wish to use. By selecting and de-selecting the boxes you may include and exclude Intercity trains, Eurostar trains, regional trains, subways and buses.

This way you are able to modify the means of transport that must be taken into consideration when carrying out your search. If you have any doubts on the selected means, click on the image to get a relevant description.

If you want to select a transit stop/station, you may select different means of transportation for both two routes (departure-arrival, transit-arrival).

The "more options" box allows you to obtain only direct connections or all possible connections.

8. Why does the system only show the Intercity railway connections between two stations?

The search parameters may not have been set correctly.

You can select the type of transport you want to use in the "Start/Via/Destination" section on the home page. By selecting and de-selecting the boxes you can respectively include and exclude Intercity trains, Eurostar trains, trains running in the regional network, buses and the underground.

You can change the transportation you want to find as you like in this way. If you have any doubts as to the selected transport, go to the picture and the relevant description will appear.

If you want a transit stop/station, you can select different means of transport for both legs (departure-transit, transit-arrival).

The "more options" box lets you choose between having only direct connections or all possible connections.

9. Are the timetables updated?

The timetable database is updated every time an operator changes its timetable and sends the information to the Regione Liguria.

The updates are usually carried out for the summer and winter versions, but modifications tied to changes of direction, temporarily closed roads due to works or public events are also indicated.

Data management includes normal internal quality audits. It is, however, very important to obtain your opinions and receive suggestions in order to acknowledge possible errors and improve the service. If possible, any information/comments should be entered directly into the system.

10. How can I get more information on connections I'm interested in?

After obtaining the required connection, the system suggests the best ones and highlights them in grey: the details are automatically viewed on the page. On the bottom of the results there are two buttons that are used to modify the settings:

  • on the right with "Details for all" you can visualize detailed information of all connections
  • on the left the "Details for selection", will only show the details of the connections selected through the special boxes

The "Show intermediate stops" button in each of the detailed sections will give a list of information about the journey: the names of all the stops, numbers/names of means of transportation, routes to take on foot.

The information on the routes to be taken on foot is especially important for passengers with baggage, the elderly or physically impaired passengers.

By clicking on the number of the train or bus route you can visualize the entire journey of the means of transport, i.e. all stops/stations en route.

11. Can I use a map to consult the system?

You can search the system in map mode ("Click on map") and look for departure and arrival points on an interactive map without having to enter the names in the boxes.

This function gives the user additional search possibilities.

How is it used?

There are two icons representing a small map on the right hand side of the "from" and "to" boxes respectively indicating departure and arrival. When you click on them a popup will appear with the map of Liguria where you can find the exact place of departure and arrival.

When you click on them a popup will appear with the map of Liguria where you can find the exact place of departure and arrival.

You can find the region you want by clicking on the small map of the Region and then enlarging it in the map window, from here you can set the various zoom levels to increase or reduce the display scale and move in all directions by using the 8 arrows at the sides.

Click on the map when you have found the exact location: the popup will close and the address will appear in the box corresponding to the arrival or departure stop/station.
The system automatically connects the selected location to the nearest bus stop or railway station.

12. Can I use the map and also enter the name of the stop in the box?

The map mode is an additional option. You can therefore write the stop you already know in the departure box and use the map to find the arrival point or vice versa.

13. What are the buttons "Earlier" and "Later" used for?

By clicking on the "Earlier" button the system searches (equal to the stop/station/point of interest/address of departure and stop/station/point of interest/address of arrival) connections regarding the times "before" the ones initially set; clicking on "Later", the system searches connections regarding the times "after" the ones initially set.
